Ain Saïss is a French natural mineral water from Danone that contains only water and natural minerals with zero calories, fats, or carbohydrates. This is already a very clean product with no problematic ingredients, artificial additives, or seed oils. The DIY version replicates the mineral content using filtered water and trace minerals.

Why This Recipe is Seed Oil Free
Commercial Ain Saïss from Danone often contains inflammatory seed oils like canola, soybean, or sunflower oil. This homemade version replaces them with healthier fats like butter, ghee, coconut oil, or avocado oil — giving you the same great taste without the processed oils.
Ingredients
Filtered water
30L (about 8 gallons) · Berkey or similar gravity-fed water filter system
Primary base - removes chlorine, fluoride, and contaminants while preserving beneficial minerals
Trace mineral drops
60-90 drops (about 3-4.5ml total) · Trace Minerals Research ConcenTrace Trace Mineral Drops
Provides essential electrolytes and minerals including magnesium, potassium, and trace elements naturally found in mineral water
Himalayan pink salt
1/4 teaspoon (about 1.5g) · Redmond Real Salt or Himalayan Chef Pink Salt
Adds sodium and additional trace minerals for proper electrolyte balance and natural mineralization
Instructions
Step 1. Start with properly filtered water using a high-quality filtration system. Fill a large glass pitcher or container with 1L of filtered water at room temperature. The water should be free of chlorine taste and odors but retain beneficial minerals if your filter allows selective filtration.
Step 2. Add exactly 2-3 drops of ConcenTrace mineral drops per liter of water. These drops are highly concentrated, so start with 2 drops and taste-test. The water should have a very subtle mineral taste, not salty or bitter. If using a 30L batch container, add 60-90 drops total and mix thoroughly.
Step 3. Add a tiny pinch of Himalayan pink salt - literally just a few crystals (about 1/50th of a teaspoon per liter). This enhances the natural mineral profile. For a 30L batch, dissolve 1/4 teaspoon of salt completely by stirring vigorously for 2-3 minutes until no crystals remain visible.
Step 4. Mix the entire batch thoroughly by stirring or gentle agitation for 3-5 minutes to ensure even distribution of minerals. The final product should be crystal clear with no visible particles or cloudiness.
Step 5. Store in clean glass bottles or BPA-free containers. Fill individual 1L bottles leaving about 1 inch headspace. Label with preparation date. The mineralized water is ready to drink immediately but taste improves after 2-4 hours as minerals fully integrate.
Step 6. Serve chilled or at room temperature. Shake gently before drinking if stored for more than 24 hours. Use within 7 days for optimal freshness, though properly stored mineralized water remains safe for weeks. Store away from direct sunlight in a cool location.
Storage
Store in glass bottles or BPA-free containers in cool, dark location. Refrigeration not required but improves taste. Use within 7 days for best mineral integration. Shake gently if separation occurs.

Massive upfront investment in water filtration system pays for itself within 200 bottles. Ongoing cost is primarily trace minerals, which last for months. Significant long-term savings plus elimination of plastic bottle waste.
