Why This Recipe is Seed Oil Free

Commercial Rolled Oats from Trader Joe's often contains inflammatory seed oils like canola, soybean, or sunflower oil. This homemade version replaces them with healthier fats like butter, ghee, coconut oil, or avocado oil — giving you the same great taste without the processed oils.

The original Rolled Oats may also contain artificial dyes. Check it on DyeFreeCheck to find out.

Instructions

Step 1. This product requires no preparation - it IS the ingredient. Store the organic rolled oats in an airtight container in a cool, dry place. For hot oatmeal: Combine 45g (1/2 cup) oats with 240ml (1 cup) water or milk in a small saucepan. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat to medium-low and simmer for 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally until oats reach your desired consistency. The longer you cook, the creamier they become.
Step 2. For overnight oats: Mix 45g (1/2 cup) oats with 120ml (1/2 cup) milk of choice, 1 tablespoon chia seeds (optional), and sweetener to taste in a jar. Refrigerate overnight. The oats will absorb the liquid and soften completely by morning. Add fresh fruit, nuts, or a drizzle of honey before eating.
Step 3. For baking applications: Use these oats 1:1 in any recipe calling for rolled oats. They work perfectly in granola, cookies, muffins, and overnight oats. Store opened container for up to 12 months in pantry, or freeze for up to 2 years for maximum freshness.
Step 4. Quality check: Good organic oats should have a clean, slightly nutty smell with no musty odors. They should be uniform in size with minimal broken pieces. If you notice any off smells or see insects, discard immediately and store future purchases in sealed containers.
